The National Centers of Competence in Research (NCCRs) are placed under the authority of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) to promote long term research projects in areas of vital strategic importance for the evolution of science in Switzerland.

The Distributed Computing Group (DCG) is part of the computer engineering and networks laboratory at ETH Zurich. DCG is headed by Prof. Roger Wattenhofer and conducts research in a variety of algorithmic and systems oriented topics. The focus of the group lies on networking and distributed computing including peer-to-peer computing, self-organizing networks, as well as wireless communication systems.
